Pima County Supervisor Ally Miller has picked up key endorsement from Legislative District 11 Senator Steve Smith, Representative Mark Finchem and Representative Vince Leach. The three are endorsing Miller for her work with legislators “to seek solutions to issues that directly affect all of Pima County.”

“In her 4 years of service as Pima County Supervisor she has fought for the taxpayers’ interest by insisting on transparency, disclosure and accountability,” said the lawmakers in a statement released last week. “She has challenged the go-along to get-along status quo that has driven Pima County into the deepest debt of all 15 Counties in Arizona.”

The lawmakers cite Miller’s work with them to craft sunshine legislation that would force full disclosure on bonding. The reform would explain the ramifications of bond debt on property owners.

“We recognize her tireless work to challenge out of control spending, inappropriate gifting, and the fight against an irresponsible 2015 bond initiative. Supervisor Miller is unpopular with some because she is in pursuit of the truth and has been diligent about serving the best interests of Pima County taxpayers exposing wasteful expenditures of taxpayer’s money,” stated the lawmakers.

The lawmakers called Miller “the number one advocate for roads and transportation.” They cite the fact that Miller was the “only voice” on the Pima County Board of Supervisors to express opposition to redirecting existing bond money away from roads.

“Supervisor Miller was the only supervisor to express outrage at the gaveling down of Pima County residents, who appeared before the Board of Supervisors, to testify and demand answers pertaining to wasteful spending when the Board was caught red-handed spending taxpayer dollars inappropriately,” continued the lawmakers.

The lawmakers argue that Miller’s education and business experience has served her well in her first term as District 1 supervisor. Miller has a B.S. in Finance from the University of Arizona, and a MBA from the UA Eller School of Management. The lawmakers note that Miller has experience in accounting and engineering with AlliedSignal Aerospace and with Intel Corporation as a Systems Engineer.
