Casa Grande Middle School Students Stoned From Stolen Drugs

On April 12, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Casa Grande Police Department responded to Casa Grande Middle School, located at 300 West McMurray Boulevard, regarding the possible theft of prescription medication by a 13 year old female student. The reporting party, a family member of the girl, stated she was missing an unknown quantity of Morphine and Oxycodone pills.

During the initial investigation, Police and school staff determined several students at CGMS were displaying symptoms consistent with side effects of taking these types of medications. At this time, Police believe a total of 6 students ranging in ages of 13-14, including the one who is suspected of bringing the pills to school are displaying these symptoms. Another student has been identified in having pills in his possession, but is not displaying any symptoms .

This is an ongoing investigation and Police are working closely with school staff, medical professionals and parents of these children to determine more information. There are no children reported to CGPD with life threatening conditions.

The Casa Grande Elementary School District is formulating an E-Alert at this time and will send it to all parents as soon as possible with additional information, to include contact information if you have questions.
