
A family of three was displaced after a fire damaged their mobile home in the 400 block of East Corona Road. The male resident noticed the smell of smoke and investigated where it was coming from.
He discovered a fire in the middle bedroom of the mobile home and attempted to put it out with a fire extinguisher. The fire was too big however and the resident was forced to evacuate the home. The female resident and their baby had already evacuated the home as soon as they smelled smoke and called 9-1-1.
The first firefighters arrived on scene and could see smoke and flames from the bedroom window. They pulled the hose to the window a performed an exterior reset, a technique in which water is sprayed into the window and off the ceiling to act as a sprinkler. After the reset, the crew entered the home to perform and search and extinguish any remaining flames. Visibility was very poor due to the smoke in the home but after ensuring an all clear and that the fire was out, a high powered fan was set up to blow the residual smoke out of the home.
Nine units and twenty-three firefighters responded to the scene. The fire was called under control 15 minutes after the first crew arrived on scene. No firefighters were injured extinguishing the fire.
The three residents, a 19 year-old female, 22 year-old male, and 16 month-old male, were going receive assistance from Red Cross as the mobile home was unlivable due to the damage. Fire investigators were on scene working to determine the cause of the fire. Initial reports indicated the fire started in the middle bedroom.
