
The driver of the vehicle that crossed the median striking former Pima County Supervisor Ann Day’s car, 24-year-old Jarrad Barnes, was released from the hospital and booked into the Pima County Jail for one count of manslaughter and driving under the influence.
On Saturday, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Pima County deputies responded to a traffic collision west of Westward Look Drive on Ina Road. When they arrived, they learned that the 77-year-old Day, was eastbound on Ina Road when another vehicle crossed the raised median and struck her vehicle head on. A truck following Day was unable to maneuver around the collision and rear ended her car.
Northwest Fire District paramedics responded and transported Ms. Day to Banner University Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. The other two drivers were also transported to Banner University Medical Center for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
