2 Arrests Made in San Tan Valley Murder Case

Sheriff Paul Babeu announced today that the second of two persons wanted in connection with the May 9 murder of Curtis Fish is now in custody. Chad Jenkins, 33, was arrested in Mesa on Wednesday night by Pinal County Sheriff’s Detectives. The other person wanted for the murder, Danielle Kinyon, 24, was taken into custody Tuesday evening in Chandler.

Sheriff Babeu said, “We are all breathing a collective sigh of relief that the persons we believe are responsible for gunning down Curtis Fish are now in our custody. I credit the tireless, round-the-clock efforts of our homicide detectives and their supervisors, who worked closely with the Pinal County Attorney to locate and arrest the suspects in this case.”

Sheriff Babeu went on to say, “Although the suspects in this case are in custody, I want to stress that our investigation is on-going. We have been interviewing witnesses, collecting physical evidence, serving search warrants and going over electronic records to piece together the events of May 9 that led to the shooting death of Mr. Fish. Below is a synopsis of what we have been able to determine at this point in the investigation.”

The victim, Curtis Fish and Danielle Kinyon lived together at a house near where the shooting occurred. We believe that Chad Jenkins is an acquaintance of both. Sometime before 5:30 p.m. on May 9, the victim and both suspects stopped along the roadway near Skyline Drive and Quail Run Lane and a verbal altercation escalated into the shooting. We are confident in saying that Chad Jenkins is the one who shot Mr. Fish, but we are sifting through conflicting statements as to what led up to the confrontation. After the shooting, Danielle Kinyon left in the victim’s Jeep Cherokee, which was later recovered at a residence in Queen Creek on Tuesday. Jenkins fled the scene on a stolen motorcycle that was later recovered in Mesa.

The evening of May 10, PCSO detectives located and arrested Danielle Kinyon at a business complex in Chandler. She was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center, where she is being held on one count of Murder and one count of Auto Theft.

The evening of May 11, Chad Jenkins was arrested at a residence in Mesa. He was located with the assistance of the US Marshal’s Violent Offender Task Force and the Mesa Police Department. He is being booked in to the Maricopa County Jail for a Homicide Warrant.
