Moreno Selected As A 2016 Udall Scholar

Marcos Moreno was among 60 scholars were selected from 482 applicants nominated nationwide this year as a 2016 Udall scholar. Moreno is a member of the Yaqui Tribe, born and raised on the Pascua Yaqui reservation.

Moreno is a premed student, studying neuroscience and American Indian studies at Cornell University, with extensive experience as a researcher. He is currently working in two Cornell laboratories (Brain and Behavior/ Child Cognitive Development) and was also a part of a public health project for his tribe’s reservation in 2014.

On the clinical side, Moreno has been a part of medical brigades in West Africa, and has spent time volunteering in his tribe’s affiliate health clinics. Outside of medicine, he is an education enthusiast who volunteers as a tutor for students from the Onondaga Nation.
