On Sunday, May 29, 2016 an Arizona State trooper made a traffic stop on a vehicle carrying suspects in the murder of 81 year-old Margaret Rose McAllister of Hancock, Maryland. Jerry W. Smith, Jr., 43, from Needmore, PA. and Crystal Stanley, 39, were traveling eastbound on Interstate 40, milepost 31 outside Kingman, when a records check revealed that the vehicle was wanted in connection with the murder of the elderly woman.

On Sunday, May 29, 2016, at about 7:14 am, Arizona State Trooper J. Gigous, a nine- year veteran, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 40, milepost 31, west of Kingman. As he passed a GMC Sonoma pickup truck, also headed eastbound, he ran a check of the vehicle’s Pennsylvania license plate to check on its status.
