On June 18, 2016, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Foothills District deputies responded to the 1400 block of West Chapala Drive in response to a domestic violence call.
When deputies arrived, they learned 26-year-old John Karamargin had barricaded himself in the home.
Deputies were able to get family members out of the home and attempted to make contact with Mr. Karamargin. As they attempted contact, an explosion occurred in the home and it caught on fire.
Mountain Vista Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire. After the fire was out, Mr. Karamargin was found deceased in the home. The Homicide Unit responded and took over the investigation.
The events following the initial 911 calls and leading up to the death of Mr. Karamargin are still under investigation.
