Bill Kristol is going to receive a thank you card from U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Kelli Ward after her campaign made a record fundraising haul thanks to Kristol’s call for an independent presidential candidacy by McCain to undermine presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.
Kristol, a prominent pundit in GOP establishment power circles and editor of the neoconservative Weekly Standard, has repeatedly indicated his preference for Hillary Clinton over Trump and is stirring efforts to organize a revolt against him at the upcoming GOP convention.
Kristol tweeted, “Just left McCain fundraiser in DC. Happy to donate. But question occurred to me –why Senate reelection? Why not an indie run for President?”
Ward responded, “Hillary Clinton supporter Bill Kristol is the worst sort of establishment hack. It’s really no surprise that he’s helping John McCain raise big bucks from the big government crowd in DC. Both have worked hand in hand with Hillary and Obama to send weapons to jihadists and ISIS. Now both are working to divide the Republican party by undermining our nominee. That’s why John McCain is losing the general election in a reliably red state to a rubber stamp Obama Democrat.”
Sean Hannity said on his radio show Friday, “Kristol tweeted that McCain was in DC raising money for a senate re-election bid. I don’t think he can even beat Dr. Kelli Ward….Polls have shown her tied with McCain in the Republican primary.”
The letter reads:
Dear Bill,
Your call for John McCain to run as an independent or to otherwise steal the Republican presidential nomination from Donald Trump has been fantastic for my fundraising.
As a matter of fact, our campaign has set terrific new records over the past few days.
That’s because you and John McCain have both worked hand in hand with Hillary and Obama to send weapons to jihadists and ISIS while refusing to secure our borders here at home.
Your “Invade the World, Invite the World” ideology has dangerously distracted you both from the most important battlefield in the war on terror: Arizona’s border.
That’s why John McCain is losing the general election in a reliably red state to a rubber stamp Obama Democrat.
I’m gaining ground because I’m a Conservative Champion who can beat the Democrat in November and finally Mix the Mortar to Fix the Border.
