PCSO Completes Investigation Into Disappearance Of Teen

On July 9, 17-year-old Quin Johnson was reported missing by her family. As reported earlier, she went out for a run at about 12:30 p.m. and was found near Poston Butte High School at about 11:00 PM. She was found by one of the many citizens searching for her. She was hospitalized for dehydration and some minor scrapes on her hands and has since recovered from her physical injuries.

Quin was interviewed by detectives the night she was found and had subsequent interviews over the past few days. She did not waiver from her account that she was followed by a vehicle and sought refuge on the roof of Poston Butte High School. She said that she fell asleep and awoke in the evening, climbed off the roof and walked to the roadway, where she was discovered by one of the many searchers looking for her.

Detectives viewed surveillance tape from the school as well as nearby businesses where witnesses say that she was spotted during the time she was missing. We have concluded that there is no evidence that Quin was at any other location other than on the roof of Poston Butte High School during the time she was missing. Reports that she was elsewhere have been disproved.

Other than Quin’s statements, there is no evidence that she was being chased or followed by a vehicle or person, which led her to seek refuge on the roof of the high school. She reported that a vehicle followed her into the high school parking lot, but that was not supported by video evidence. As well, a witness was interviewed, who reported seeing no vehicles around when Quin was running near the school. The witness said that it did not appear as though she was being chased or was in any distress when he saw her.

PCSO has concluded that no crimes were committed and have no reason to doubt Quin’s claims of being on the roof of Poston Butte High School during the hours she was missing.
