CBP Officers Nab 3 Women For Smuggling Drugs

Officers at the Port of San Luis seized 28 pounds of meth from within the flooring of a Mazda sedan on July 15

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of San Luis arrested three women during two weekend drug-smuggling attempts involving marijuana and methamphetamine.

Officers first arrested a 30-year-old Yuma woman July 15 after a CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted to the back flooring area of a Mazda sedan she was driving. Officers searched the vehicle and found 28 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at approximately $85,000.

On July 17, a CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted officers to a Dodge sedan occupied by a 19-year-old driver from Pasadena, California and her 21-year-old passenger. Officers searched the vehicle and found more than 300 pounds of marijuana, valued in excess of $150,000, in the vehicle’s trunk.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicles, and turned the women over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
