
On Monday, July 25, 2016, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at a home in the 12100 block of E. 36th Street.
Deputies served the warrant after investigating several complaints of a “foul odor” and multiple cats on the property. The complaints also alleged the suspect lived outside her home in between the back yard and driveway. While on scene, deputies found the entire inside of the home to be completely covered in cat feces and urine. Spiders, cobwebs and bugs covered the ceilings, counter tops and cupboards.
With the assistance of the Yuma County Animal Control, Town of Wellton Animal Control and the Humane Society of Yuma, a total of 41 cats and two dogs were seized; 4 cats were also found deceased inside the home. The living 41 cats and dogs were taken to the Humane Society of Yuma for treatment.
The suspect, Jeanne Marion Pryor, 77, of Yuma was booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for Animal Cruelty.
