Fort Huachuca Soldier Arrested For Sexual Conduct With A Minor

A U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Huachuca was arrested on July 28, 2016 for sexual conduct with a minor following a seven-week-long investigation by the Sierra Vista Police Department and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command on Fort Huachuca.

Alexander E. Smith, 27, was arrested at 1:58 p.m. and booked into the Cochise County Jail for five counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Bond was set at $100,000.

The investigation began on June 8, 2016, when the Sierra Vista Police Department received an anonymous tip that Smith was involved in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl. Smith reportedly met the victim through a church in Huachuca City, and it is believed that the relationship lasted for over a year. During that time, it is believed that Smith and the minor engaged in sexual conduct at least five times, both in Sierra Vista and on Fort Huachuca.
