On Saturday afternoon July 30, the Tucson Police Department reported that on July 29, 2016 the red Ford Focus associated to the Potts family was located in a remote area of Redington Pass, near Mile Post 11. Hikers in the area located the vehicle off the roadway and down an embankment.
They had also located a deceased person in the area of the vehicle. A search and rescue team from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area and recovered the body of an adult female.
The female has not yet been positively identified, but next of kin for Ms. Potts has been notified of the finding. No one else was located near the vehicle.
At this time, it is still uncertain as to how the vehicle ended up down the embankment.
