The Tucson Police Department has been awarded a $14,990.00 Traffic Investigator Training Grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS).
The grant funding will be used to provide specialized training for traffic reconstruction at serious and fatal collision scenes.
The leader in traffic reconstruction is the Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM) in Phoenix Arizona. The funding will allow traffic investigators from the Tucson Police Department the opportunity to remain in state to obtain the needed training. The IPTM courses allow the investigators the necessary training to read roadway evidence and conduct proper interviews. These collision scenes can be very complicated and require a higher understanding of both physics and math.
The specialized training will help build the necessary foundation to build stronger cases and aid in the furtherance of criminal prosecution.
