Flagstaff Woman Sexually Assaulted By Man Posing As Officer

During the early morning hours of Sunday August 14, a male subject contacted the female victim near the 200 block of E. Birch Ave in Flagstaff, AZ. The victim and a witness were seated in their car that was parked. The suspect approached on foot and presented himself as a police officer. Using this ruse he directed the victim to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’10”- 5’11” with a muscular build, possibly wearing blue jeans, glasses and a baseball cap with the word “POLICE” on it. A witness described him as having a black strap or stripe across his shirt. The suspect was also reported to be carrying a large flashlight.

The Flagstaff Police Department is reminding the public that Flagstaff Police Officers always carry a department issued police badge and identification card on their person when on duty. These will be presented upon request by citizens.
