Everywhere you go in Arizona these days, people are talking about the deceptive McCain ads being run against Dr. Kelli Ward in this primary. Some are shocked, most have seen McCain go extreme before when running six years ago against JD Hayworth, but never like this. McCain, unable to fittingly relinquish power is, at age 80, arrogantly running for reelection to a sixth six-year US Senate term and fighting dirtier than ever seen to keep his seat.
Dr. Kelli Ward, a conservative former two-term state senator and family practice physician challenging John McCain, has a decidedly different message. After enduring flagrant lies broadcast about her by a McCain aligned PAC, founded by his former top aides, she boldly fights back, unequivocally making the case that it is McCain who is “directly responsible” for the rise of ISIS while her KelliPAC goes after McCain for betraying us on Amnesty.
Unexpectedly, also coming to her defense this week was EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in liberal politics, reacted to a new ad released by the same McCain PAC, which called his primary opponent Kelli Ward, “Street Corner Kelli.”
This may be the only thing EMILY’s List and Dr. Kelli Ward agree upon.
“The anti-woman rhetoric on display by….John McCain….,” said Marcy Stech, vice president of communications at EMILY’s List. “John McCain must denounce this offensive attack – tearing down women is an unacceptable campaign strategy. Arizona women deserve better than this from John McCain.”
Arizonans deserve better.
McCain has been in Congress for 34 years. If elected Dr Kelli Ward would be the first woman from Arizona elected to the US Senate.
Dr Ward is currently on a statewide tour called Small Towns – Big Voices, visiting 42 towns in 24 days, and will be in Pima County this weekend at the following locations:
