Border Patrol Agents Spend Week Apprehending Sex Offenders, Human Smugglers

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents spent this past week apprehending sex offenders and human smugglers with subjects stowed in the trunks of their vehicles.

On Sept. 24, Tucson Station agents arrested the driver of a sedan for attempting to smuggle an adult Guatemalan found inside the vehicle’s trunk.

Agents at the Interstate 19 checkpoint discovered multiple subjects concealed in the trunks of vehicles during separate incidents. Two U.S. citizens were arrested Monday for attempting to smuggle two Mexican nationals and one Peruvian national. Tuesday evening, agents arrested a U.S. citizen for attempting to smuggle two adult Mexican nationals.

Agents working at the State Route 82 checkpoint Wednesday arrested a U.S. citizen for attempting to smuggle three adult Mexican nationals in a trunk.

Nogales Station agents apprehended a male Honduran national Sunday. A records check revealed a 2010 conviction and 8-month prison sentence in California for committing a “lewd or lascivious act with a child under 14”. Monday, agents arrested a male Mexican national who had served 60 days in 2008 on a misdemeanor charge in New York City for forcibly touching another person’s “sexual/intimate” parts.
