Several neighborhood park playgrounds will soon see significant improvements as part of a project to enhance access and safety, with the initial work set to start on today.
Playgrounds in Soldier Creek Park, Summit Park, and Len Roberts Park will all receive new soft, child-friendly rubberized surfacing as part of a project spanning about three weeks. Access to these playgrounds will be closed by temporary fence panels while work is being conducted. Restrictions will begin at Soldier Creek Park and Summit Park next week, with work set to start in Len Roberts Park the week of Monday, Oct. 24.
In addition to the installation of new “Tot Turf,” Summit Park will receive a new slide that meets modern standards, which will replace the existing metal slide. The wood chips at the Soldier Creek Park will also be replaced with Tot Turf, while both playgrounds at Len Roberts Park will receive a fresh surfacing as well.
“The improvements will ensure these popular playgrounds remain as safe and as accessible as possible, while continuing to serve local families for many years to come,” says Victoria Yarbrough, director of Leisure and Library Services.
The project is expected to be completed by Friday, Nov. 4.
