The Tucson Police Department detectives have arrested 22-year-old King Yates for the death his wife, 24-year-old Cassandra Yates. King Yates allegedly shot his wife Sunday evening at an apartment complex on the east side of town.
On Monday morning, officers responded to a report of suspicious activity and the sound of glass breaking at a residence in the 2400 block of N. Desert Links Dr. When they arrived on scene, they observed an eviction notice posted on the front door and a broken window at the back of the residence large enough for entry.
The officers announced their presence but no one responded. The officers then checked the interior of the residence and located an adult male asleep in a bedroom. The male was detained without incident. He was identified as Yates. A search warrant was served at the residence and evidence, to include a gun, was recovered.
Mr. Yates was arrested for 1st Degree Murder, Misconduct Involving Weapons – Prohibited Possessor and 2nd Degree Burglary. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail. A booking photograph has been provided.
