The Commission on Appellate Court Appointments is asking for public comment on five candidates for two openings on Division One of the Arizona Court of Appeals. The vacancies result from the retirement of Judge Patricia Orozco and the appointment of Judge Andrew Gould to the Arizona Supreme Court.
Division One of the Court of Appeals hears cases arising in Apache, Coconino, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Yavapai and Yuma counties.
The candidates are:
· Jennifer B. Campbell
· Kenneth E. Moyer
· Maria Elena Cruz
· Rick Williams
· Mark R. Moran
Their applications for the office can be viewed online at the Commission’s website.
The Commission will meet to interview the candidates on February 21, 2017. The meeting will be held in room 345 of the Arizona State Courts Building, 1501 W. Washington, starting at 10:00 a.m. Citizens may address the commission at that time or send written comments to 1501 W. Washington, Suite 221, Phoenix, AZ 85007 or to jnc@courts.az.gov.
Comments should be received no later than February 16th to be considered. Anonymous comments cannot be considered.
After the interviews, the Commission will recommend at least three nominees for each opening to Governor Doug Ducey, who will appoint the new judges.
