Suspicious activity leads to marijuana arrest at Sierra Vista motel

The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested a 21-year-old Sierra Vista woman for possession of marijuana for sale following reports of suspicious activity in the area of a local motel late Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Fab Avenue at 4:05 p.m. on Thursday after management of a local hotel reported a recent increase in suspicious activity. An SVPD K9 unit assisted with the call and inspected several exterior doors in the area. The K9, trained to detect the odor of controlled substances, alerted to a specific door leading into one of the motel rooms.

Officers made contact with Noemi Dominguez Acuna, who gave officers consent to search the room. The officers observed a large amount of green residue on a tray near the bathroom sink and found a significant amount of green leafy substance floating inside the toilet bowl. They also found electronic devices and several assorted items consistent with drug paraphernalia.

Acuna was arrested without incident and booked into Cochise County Jail for possession of marijuana for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.
