On Saturday, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Pima County deputies responded to the Vail area at train trestle near Marsh Station Road and Interstate 10 for a report of two people struck by a train. When deputies arrived, they learned a 17-year-old male and his 17-year-old female friend had been on the trestle when they were struck.
The man was pronounced deceased on scene, and his friend was taken to Banner Hospital for her injuries.
