Mesa Woman Deported, Convicted Of ID Theft

Attorney Ray Ybarra Maldonado said he was unaware his client, Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos, had been taken into custody and deported

Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos was detained and later deported on Thursday by ICE agents. Garcia de Rayos had been living in the country illegally and under an Order of Supervision since 2008.

In 2008, she was arrested in a workplace raid at a water park and convicted of identity theft and using a fake social security number. Cronkite News reports that Garcia de Rayos spent three months in the Maricopa County Jail and three months in the Florence Detention Center and released.

According to Cronkite News ICE issued a statement advising that García De Rayos was detained this time based on a removal order issued by the Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review in 2013. “Relevant databases indicates Ms. Garcia De Rayos has a prior felony conviction dating from March 2009 for criminal impersonation,” said the statement according to Cronkite News.
