Tohono O’odham Man Gets 30 Years in Prison for Sexual Abuse of Two Girls

On Friday February 17, 2017, Anthony Ray Shirley, 29, of Tucson, was sentenced by Chief District Judge Raner C. Collins to 360 months in prison. Shirley, a member of the Tohono O’Odham Nation, was convicted by a federal jury on Oct. 28, 2016 of four counts of aggravated sexual abuse and two counts of abusive sexual contact. Shirley’s imprisonment will be followed by lifetime federal supervised release and he will be required to register as a sex offender.

The evidence at trial was that Shirley had molested two young victims, who are members of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe.

The investigation in this case was conducted by both the Pascua Yaqui Tribe Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
