Cochise County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance in locating the shooting suspect identified as Steven Smith from early Saturday in Sierra Vista.
On Saturday February 25, 2017 at approximately 3:55 am, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a possible domestic violence incident in the 8000 block of Canada, south of Sierra Vista, which resulted in a female being shot.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded, along with Sierra Vista Police Department Officers, US Border Patrol, and Fry Fire Department. Upon arriving at the residence, Deputies discovered that a 55 year old woman had been shot in the abdomen area and the 51 year old suspect had fled the scene.
The victim was airlifted to a Tucson hospital while law enforcement began searching for the suspect who left the residence in a brown jeep which was later discovered at a second location a short distance away.
