Tonopah Shooting Suspect Arrested For 1st Degree Murder

Daniel Stroh was subsequently booked into 4th Ave Jail for 1 count of 1st Degree Murder, 1 count of Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder, and Tampering with Evidence.

On Monday, October 23, 2017 at approximately 12:54 p.m., Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the area of  373rd Ave and Buckeye Road in Tonopah regarding an “Unknown Trouble” where a subject, later identified as John Norton (59 ), was discovered to have been shot.

The caller, later identified as John Norton’s 15 year old daughter,  told Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) dispatchers that she witnessed a former boyfriend shoot her father at their home several hours earlier in the day.  The 15 year old female juvenile also stated she had fled the residence after the shooting with her younger sister.

MCSO deputies responding to the residence found John Norton deceased inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound.  The MCSO Homicide Unit was called out and assumed the investigation.   After processing the scene and interviewing several investigative leads and witnesses, detectives developed a strong suspicion that John Norton’s 15 year old daughter and her current boyfriend, Daniel Stroh (21), were responsible for the homicide.   During subsequent interviews, both Daniel Stroh and the victim’s 15 year old daughter confessed to the murder, which was planned out several days in advance.

Daniel Stroh has been booked into 4th Ave Jail for 1 count of 1st Degree Murder, 1 count of Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder, and Tampering with Evidence.  The 15 year old Juvenile was processed into the Durango Juvenile Detention Facility and charged with 1 count of Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder, and 1 count of Tampering with Evidence.
