CBP Officers Intercept Legal Permanent Resident Alien Meth Smuggler

A 20-year-old Legal Permanent Resident Alien was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in connection to a failed smuggling attempt of methamphetamine at the Port of San Luis.

On Tuesday, officers referred the Mexican national for additional inspection of his Toyota sedan as he attempted to enter the U.S. from Mexico. Following an alert by a CBP narcotics detection canine to a scent it was trained to detect, officers discovered multiple packages of meth throughout the vehicle. The drugs with a weight of almost 41 pounds are valued at more than $122,000.

CBP officers seized the drugs and vehicle. The Legal Permanent Resident Alien was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
