A Tucson woman connected with a failed attempt to smuggle meth into the United States was arrested on Tuesday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of Nogales.
The 33-year-old woman was referred for further inspection Tuesday afternoon by CBP officers at the Dennis DeConcini Pedestrian Crossing. A CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to a scent it was trained to detect on the woman. Officers removed two packages of drugs that were wrapped around the subject’s abdomen, which were identified as nearly 2 pounds of methamphetamine, worth just more than $5,900.

Officers seized the drugs, while the woman was arrested and then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
