Man Caught Smuggling Nearly $200K In Meth In Car Speaker

Friday morning, Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents seized nearly $200,000 in methamphetamine hidden inside a speaker in a vehicle northeast of Yuma.

Wellton Station agents working in Dome Valley at approximately 7:54 a.m., stopped a vehicle traveling east near Avenue 16E and County 4th Street they deemed suspicious. Agents discovered 90 packages of methamphetamine hidden inside a speaker box behind the front seat.

The drugs have a combined weight of 65.34 pounds and a street value of $196,020.

The driver, identified as a Lawful Permanent Resident from Mexico, was arrested for the transportation of a controlled substance. The drugs, vehicle and subject were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
