4 Dead In I-10 6 Vehicle Collision

Four deaths have been confirmed by the Arizona Department of Safety as a result of a 6 vehicle collision on westbound I-10 near Marana.

The collision occurred at 12:14 p.m., on Interstate 10 westbound at milepost 232. Minutes before this collision, DPS had put out an ATL (attempt to locate) for a reckless driver eastbound on I-10. It appears this vehicle crossed the median and struck an SUV head on. A semi truck then struck the initial wreck which began a chain reaction collision.

Among the six vehicles involved was a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office transport van. On board were two deputies and a prisoner. None were seriously injured.

All three were transported to UMC in Tucson.
