WASHINGTON, D.C. — Arizona’s representatives reacted to the news that U.S. Attorney General William Barr said the investigation of Special Counsel Robert Mueller III did not recommend any more indictments of President Donald Trump or anyone else regarding collusion with Russia.
Barr said there was no evidence from Mueller that Trump or anyone working in his campaign conspired with Russia. Barr’s statement also cleared President Donald Trump of any possible charges regarding obstruction of justice.
The report was delivered to Barr’s office as well as Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s office on Friday afternoon.
Barr released his assessment of the report on Sunday.
“The Special Counsel’s investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election,” Barr wrote in a letter addressed to Congressional leaders.
On obstruction of justice, Barr wrote that the evidence developed during the Special Counsel’s investigation is not sufficient to establish that the president committed an obstruction-of-justice offense.”
The reactions from GOP lawmakers came within hours of the release of the Barr statement.
