Nogales Police Officer Dies After Being Hit By I-10 Driver

The Nogales Police Department is mourning the loss of Officer Jeremy Brinton who was killed while on an off-duty job conducting traffic control on I-19. Officer Brinton is survived by his wife and four children.

He was an 18-year veteran of the Nogales Police Department.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred at around 8:15 p.m. on May 20. While outside of his car, Officer Brinton was hit by another vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that hit Officer Brinton remained on scene.

Officer Brinton was airlifted to Banner University Medical Center Trauma Center with serious injuries, where he later died.

The investigation remains ongoing.
