
Late Sunday night night, Yavapai County Deputies were dispatched to the 3900 block of Meadow Lane, Rimrock, Arizona regarding a reported assault that resulted in a death.
It has since been determined a 25-year-old Village of Oak Creek man and his 23-year old male roommate, went to the Meadow Lane location to confront the 52-year-old resident regarding an ongoing family dispute.
The 25-year-old was the estranged stepson to the 52-year-old resident. A 17-year-old male, who lives at the Meadow Lane home, was also involved and is the stepson’s half-brother.
During a confrontation, the 25 year old stepson attacked his stepfather.The attack resulted in multiple injuries to the setpfather, including an apparent orbital fracture . The 17-year-old Meadow Lane resident was also attacked, his injuries are unknown at this time. The assault eventually stopped however the 2 suspects (stepson and his roommate) refused to leave and before they could attack again, the step dad grabbed a handgun and shot both of them. The stepson eventually succumbed to his injuries and died. His roommate was shot in the groin area , was treated and later released.
Detectives were on the scene throughout the day gathering evidence. The firearm was recovered. The AZDI confirmed that no arrests have been made as of 4 pm Wednesday.
Detectives are considering several issues in the case, including the possibility the stepdad fired in self-defense. When there is a development in the case it will be reported.
