The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested a Sierra Vista man, John Christopher Haynes, for attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault following a stabbing at a local bar early Saturday morning.
On Saturday, at 12:16 a.m., Sierra Vista Police Department officers responded to a report of disorderly conduct at the International Karaoke and Bar located at 325 W. Fry Blvd. When officers arrived, they contacted the 39-year-old Haynes. Officers learned that Haynes had instigated an argument with a man at the bar. At this time, Haynes agreed to leave the bar and officers remained on scene until he left.
About 30 minutes later, at 12:44 a.m., Sierra Vista Police Department officers were dispatched to the International Karaoke and Bar for a report of an assault with a knife. When officers arrived, they saw Haynes running away from the bar. Officers followed Haynes and noticed he threw an object into a nearby parking lot. When officers located Haynes, he had an empty knife holder attached to his belt.
Other responding officers discovered a man had been stabbed multiple times with a sharp object. The victim identified Haynes as the person who had stabbed him. Officers then discovered a knife in the back parking lot of a local business where Haynes had been observed throwing an object.
Haynes was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of attempted first-degree murder. He is being held at Cochise County Jail on a $75,000 bond. The victim was transported to Canyon Vista Medical Center and is in stable condition.
