A fire destroyed a Tucson mobile home in the 6100 block of South Park Avenue, displacing the four residents who lived there and leaving three cats missing. Multiple calls were made to 9-1-1 reporting heavy smoke and flames coming from the mobile home and TFD crews could see a large column of smoke as they responded to the scene.
The first crew arrived on scene and reported the home fully involved in flames. They were able to confirm that all family members were out safely but there were still possibly pets inside. The amount of fire prevented the crews from entering the home so they fought the fire defensively, or from the outside. Multiple hose streams were used to extinguish the home on fire as well as protecting the three neighboring homes, which included homes on both sides and the rear of the home.
The homeowners of the home in the rear were using a green garden hose to try and protect their home until the firefighters were able to extinguish the flames. Nine units and twenty-three firefighters were dispatched to the scene and the fire was under control sixteen minutes after they arrived. There were no injuries to firefighters. Four residents, a 70 year-old female, 41 year-old female, a 18 year-old male, and a 17 year-old female were displaced as the home was a total loss.
Firefighters were still looking for the three family cats but had not been able to locate them. Red Cross was responding to the scene to assist the residents. Fire investigators were on scene and working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
