FLORENCE, Ariz.—The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the community’s help in identifying three suspects responsible for a violent home invasion in Arizona City Monday night. A 46-year-old male was injured when he was struck with the butt of a handgun and his 62-year-old female roommate was uninjured during the incident.
Three suspects forced entry into their home at approximately 11 p.m. demanding drugs and money. Comments made by the suspects during the incident have lead detectives to believe the suspects targeted the wrong home. The suspects were described as African-American males, one being 6’ tall, thin build, wearing dark clothing. Two other suspects are described as average height and medium build. One suspect had a blue bandana covering his face and a white shirt with stripes. At least one suspect was armed with a black handgun.
On Monday, August 22nd, 2016 at 11 p.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s 9-1-1 Communications Center received a call regarding an attempted armed robbery which had just occurred in the 13000 block of South Durango Road, Arizona City.
Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with the male and female victim. The male victim reported he heard a knock at the front door and assumed it was a family member. When he opened the door, a black male suspect forced his way into the home and demanded the “weed and money.” The male victim asked the suspect what he was talking about and the male suspect struck him in the mouth with a black pistol and demanded he get onto the ground. The male victim got onto the ground and lay facedown as instructed.”
Two additional black male suspects had also entered the residence and went towards the back bedrooms. The female victim was in a back bedroom watching television when she saw them. One of the suspects yelled, “oh shit” and ran back towards the front of the residence.
Once in the front of the residence the male victim heard one of the suspects say, “this ain’t them” and then all three of the suspects ran out of the house. As they were leaving, one of the suspects yelled, “don’t look out or I’ll shoot your ass.”
