Woman Sentenced For Hitting Boyfriend With Car

Misty Lee Wilke, age 54, was sentenced on Thursday to 6.5 years in the Department of Corrections on Count 1, to be followed by 3 years of supervised probation on Count 4 for seriously injuring her boyfriend by hitting him with a car. Wilke pled guilty to one count of aggravated assault and one count of leaving the scene of a crime.

On April 29, 2016, the defendant and victim were in a verbal argument at a park. The defendant told police that the argument started because the victim told her he had HIV and was laughing at her. The defendant admitted to pushing the victim and claimed he pulled out a pocket knife and swung it at her causing a laceration to her arm.

The victim rode away on his bicycle but then headed back to the park. The defendant got into her car and drove head-on into the victim while he was still riding his bicycle. Hair and blood were later located on the defendant’s windshield and paint from the victim’s bike was found on the defendant’s car. The defendant then drove to a gas station where she parked her car and got a ride back to her house. Once home, she contacted the police.

Witnesses observed the defendant driving in circles through the park around the victim either trying to taunt him or attempting to hit him. They also saw the defendant accelerate directly into the victim head on and that the victim was trying to get away from her. Video footage from a nearby home was collected which showed the defendant driving her vehicle through the park and across a street to strike the victim.
