Tucson Police Investigate Prince Road Home Invasion, Homicide

The Tucson Police Department is investigating a home invasion and shooting that took place in the 1000 block of W. Prince Rd. on August 9, 2016.

On August 9, 2016, just before 1:00 p.m., officers from Operations Division West responded to a report of a shooting in the 1000 block of W. Prince Rd. Officers arrived on scene and located a 56-year-old male victim with obvious signs of gunshot trauma and summoned members from the Tucson Fire Department. Paramedics transported the male to Banner University Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries at that time.

Detectives with the Tucson Police Department Home Invasion Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation. They were able to determine the victim had been inside his residence with two other adults and two children. Just before 1:00 p.m., an unknown Hispanic male suspect entered the residence armed with a handgun and demanded money. The victim walked to a bedroom where he was subsequently shot multiple times by the suspect. No one else inside the residence was injured. The suspect fled the residence and was last seen getting into the passenger side of a dark truck or sport utility vehicle and leaving the area in an unknown direction. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 30-40 years of age, 5’9”, 135 lbs, with a dark complexion and dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, jeans and black boots.

Detectives observed evidence of narcotic sales inside the residence. It appeared the suspect was targeting the victims and that the incident was not a random act of violence. At this time, there are no suspects in custody. Detectives are asking anyone with information related to this incident to call 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.

On September 13, 2016, detectives learned the victim of the shooting succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as 56-year-old William “Bill” Bell. Next of kin has been notified.
