National Border Patrol Council Clarifies Statements Made During Trump Press Conference

On Friday, the National Border Patrol Council issued a statement in support of comments made by presidential candidate Donald Trump regarding the fact that officials in the U.S. are being directed to speed up citizenship applications and ignore immigrants’ criminal histories.

The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) claimed in the statement that they are in possession of “an internal email from the United States Citizen and Immigration Service (USCIS) showing that extra overtime is being provided to employees to process as many applications for citizenship as possible prior to November 8.”

According to the NBPC’s statement, the organization is also in possession of text messages “from upper level managers telling us that criminal prosecution cases are being put on hold in order for judges to adjudicate these applications. Historically, we have seen criminal background checks curtailed in situations like this, thus allowing some criminals to gain United States citizenship.”

“We are also experiencing a new surge of illegal immigration along the Southern Border. This is not unexpected, since when there is talk of easing enforcement or tightening enforcement illegal immigration increases. Immigration has dominated this year’s presidential election, with both candidates offering very different approaches. This uncertainty causes individuals to risk the dangerous journey so they can be in the US before any changes are made.” The statement concludes, “The Rio Grande Valley remains ground zero for the latest surge, however sectors as far west as San Diego sector are reporting dramatic increases.”

Across the border, cartels are trafficking human beings with little to protect their victims from abuse. The U.S. government has turned a blind eye to the trafficking of children who are sent from shelters in the U.S. to cartels members who then place them into servitude.

In late September, the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Council, endorsed Trump. It was their first-ever endorsement of any candidate for any elected office. President of the National ICE Council, Chris Crane, stated, “America has been lied to about every aspect of immigration in the United States. We can fix our broken immigration system, and we can do it in a way that honors America’s legacy as a land of immigrants…. Our officers come into daily contact with many of the most dangerous people in the world – cartel members, gang members, weapons traffickers, murder suspects, drug dealers, suspects of violent assault – yet ICE Officers are unable to arrest or are forced to release many of the most dangerous back into U.S. communities due to unscrupulous political agendas and corrupt leaders. The unconstitutional executive orders of President Obama, embraced by Hillary Clinton, have forced our officers to violate their oaths to uphold the law and placed every person living in America at risk – including increased risk of terrorism. Our officers are prevented from enforcing the most basic immigration laws, including laws against illegal work, illegal entry, illegal overstay and also the public charge law.”
