Tucson Police Investigating Fatal Southside Shooting

The Tucson Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that took place on Tucson’s Southside early Sunday morning.

On October 23, 2016, shortly after 1:00 a.m., Tucson Police officers responded to the intersection of S. 7th Avenue and W. Lincoln Street for a report of a possible shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 38-year-old Israel Dominguez Alfaro in the roadway with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. Officers immediately began rendering first-aid until Tucson Fire took over medical treatment. Alfaro was transported to Banner University Medical Center, but was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

Detectives from the Tucson Police Department’s Homicide Unit were able to determine that Israel and a female acquaintance, identified as 29-year-old Alice Puente, had been involved in an earlier physical altercation. Several hours after the altercation, Israel and his brother were walking in the area of 7th and Lincoln when a blue SUV pulled up next to them. Alice and several male suspects exited the vehicle and confronted Israel and his brother. One of the suspects was armed with a baseball bat and a fight ensued. During the fight, a gunshot was fired by one of the suspects and Israel was struck.

Alice and the other suspects then fled in the SUV.

As detectives continued their investigation, they were able to locate Alice Puente and take her into custody. She is being booked into the Pima County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Murder and Kidnapping.

Detectives are continuing the investigation and additional details will be released as they become available. If you have any information about this incident, you are urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME. You CAN remain anonymous.
