On December 3, 2016, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Tucson Police officers and members from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle that had collided with a residence in the 1700 block of N. Wrightstown Road. Upon arrival, officers and fire fighters located a vehicle on the roof of that residence.
Tucson Fire used a ladder truck to reach the driver, however it was quickly determined the driver was deceased inside of the vehicle.
Detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that the vehicle had been traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed in the 8900 block of E. Wrightstown Road. The driver lost control of the vehicle near N. Avenida Ricardo Small and crossed over the westbound lane of travel. The vehicle then struck a utility pole and entered a concrete lined arroyo, launching the vehicle over a residential wall and on to the roof of a home on N. Wrightstown Pl.
Tucson Fire personnel worked with Barnett’s Towing services and were able to lift the vehicle off of the roof and place it on the ground. City of Tucson Building Inspectors responded to assess the structural damage to the residence. No one inside the home was injured.
Detectives are still trying to positively identify the deceased driver. They believe they know who he is, but are only releasing that he is an adult male until they can confirm his identity.
It is unknown at this time if impairments were a factor in the collision.
