
Maricopa County detectives arrested Filip Chudziak on felony Identity Theft, Fraudulent Schemes and Fraudulent use of a Credit Card charges.
Sheriff’s detectives were contacted on December 7, 2016 by the Hays City Police Department in Kansas about in reference a credit card fraud scheme that occurred at Joe Bob’s Outfitters store in Kansas. The owner of Joe Bob’s reported several online credit card orders over the past three months that appeared to be fraudulent.
The Hays City Police Department contacted the Maricopa County Sheriff’s office because most of the fraudulent orders had a billing address in Sun City Arizona. Sheriff’s detectives were able to start investigating these multiple fraud charges that were placed on different credit card that belonged to different victims in the Sun City area. The victims in this case were all Maricopa county residents and all reported fraudulent charges to law enforcement due to suspicious charges that have placed on their credit cards over the past few months.
Detectives were able to locate the suspect in these charges due to tracking of the same mailing address in Surprise, AZ, but all having different billing addresses. The suspect purchased gun parts, tools, and other parts from Joe Bob’s store. The orders all had the name Doherty and Dean on the packages and through our investigation. Detectives were able to determine those the name was Chudziak’s mother in law. Marion Dean was contacted and she told detectives that Chudziak was her son in law but she did not authorize or purchase anything from Joe Bob’s store.
Detectives were able to locate the suspect where he is a current employee at Banner Boswell Hospital. Banner hospital advised detectives that Chudziak job was to transport patients and their property while they are being treated at Banner Boswell Hospital.
Detectives contacted Chudziak at Banner Hospital and he was taken into custody and brought to a Sheriff’s Office substation for questioning. He told detectives that money was tight and he always wanted to purchase an AR-15. He also stated that he used the credit cards of some of the patients to purchase many items to build the AR-15 without his wife knowing about the purchases.
Chudziak was booked into the fourth Avenue jail on felony Fraudulent Scheme, Fraudulent Credit Card and Identity Theft charges.
