On Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Yuma County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on a Dodge station wagon in the 3700 block of E. 32nd Street in Yuma, Arizona. During the course of the traffic stop, a K-9 unit arrived on scene and alerted to the vehicle resulting in a subsequent search.
The search led to the discovery of approximately 5.3 pounds of methamphetamine (with an approximate wholesale value of $9,300.00 and approximate street level value of $96,000.00) contained in 5 separate packages concealed inside of the vehicle.
The two occupants of the vehicle, Jose Castro, 33, and Marisela Castro, 35, both of Brawley, California, were arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for transportation of a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
