Peoria Police Release 911 Call By Woman Shot In Face

The Peoria Police Department’s investigation has revealed new information regarding the shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of February 18 of a woman, who was shot in the face, while playing Pokémon Go.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the suspects.

The victim in this case is still in the hospital, however detectives were able to speak with her to obtain more information.

The victim told detectives that she was in the parking lot of the Peoria City Hall complex playing Pokémon Go on her cell phone when the first suspect approached her as she was seated in her vehicle and asked her for directions. As she began conversing with the suspect he removed a pistol from his waistband and ordered her out of her vehicle. As she attempted to drive away from the scene, the male shot her in the face. The victim drove several blocks and contacted police.

The victim said she saw three males approach her vehicle during the incident but during a review of surveillance video there appear to be five individuals. The victim described the suspects as:

Suspect #1 – Shooter
Hispanic Male, 17-18 years old, 5’7” or shorter, approximately 140lbs with a thin build, wearing a plain white t-shirt, baggie blue jeans and black shoes.

Suspect #2 – Approached vehicle with suspect #1
Hispanic Male, 17-18 years old, 5’10”, approximately 200lbs with an athletic build, wearing a green Army type jacket and dark colored jeans.

Suspect #3 – Stood toward the rear of the vehicle
Dark complected Hispanic Male, 17-18 years old, wearing white colored painter’s pants and a white painter’s hat.
The victim did not see the other two suspects and was unable to provide a description. Peoria Police obtained surveillance video from city buildings which shows that at approximately 2:26AM the victim is stopped in the parking lot when the suspects approach her vehicle.
