Buckeye Home Invasion Auto Theft Ends In WickenBurg

On Monday, at approximately 7:00 a.m., a suspect entered a home in Buckeye and confronted the occupants, demanding their vehicle. The occupants gave the suspect keys to her SUV and he left without incident.

The suspect headed north toward Wickenburg on Highway 60. The occupants of the Buckeye home, called 911. None of them were harmed.

South of Wickenburg, the suspect was engaged by Wickenburg Police, Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), and Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies. OnStar was engaged and worked with law enforcement to both track the suspect vehicle and ultimately, to disable it.

Prior to OnStar completing its actions, shots were exchanged. The vehicle came to a stop in an open field. MCSO deputies wounded the suspect who was transported to West Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Deputies were unhurt. Per standard procedures, MCSO Professional Standards Bureau is reviewing the actions of the Deputies involved. MCSO Homicide detectives are also investigating the shooting as a critical incident, also standard operating procedure.
