Woman found dead in Pima County wash

On Tuesday January 8, at about 4:50 p.m., deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call from the Tucson Police Department (TPD) about a deceased female who had been found in the Pantano Wash near the 6400 block of East Grant Road.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that TPD had responded to the area after they had received a 9-1-1 call about a female who was possibly in distress. When TPD officers went into the wash they found a deceased female in her 50’s. As the wash area lies outside of city limits, the investigation was turned over to deputies.

A description of a male individual possibly involved in the incident was also provided and both agencies conducted a joint search operation in the area. Prior to the arrival of additional specialty units such as K-9 and air support, patrol deputies located a male matching the description they were given. The male was apprehended and detained. The male individual detained by deputies is considered a suspect.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
