Body found in Pima County burned home

Pima County deputies responded to several 9-1-1 calls about a residential structure fire in the 6600 block of South Settler Avenue, on January 10, at about 5:39 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies found a mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

Drexel Heights Fire Department received assistance in fighting the fire by Pascua Yaqui Fire Department and Tohono O’Odham Fire Department. Altogether, four engines responded to the scene. It was determined that two occupants belonged to the residence, both of whom were initially unaccounted for.

While the firefighting effort was in progress, a female showed up on scene advising deputies and firefighters that she was one of the occupants and that there was a male who also lived at this home with her. Inside the residence, a person’s body was later located. The deceased has not been identified at this time Detectives with the Sheriff’s Homicide and Arson Unit responded to investigate. The cause of the fire has not been determined yet.

The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information on this case is asked to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
