Pima County man arrested for choking infant

Pima County Sheriff’s Office detectives were called to a local hospital reference a possible child abuse incident on January 25. At the hospital, investigators learned that the mother of an 8-month-old baby boy had brought her son to the hospital after she noticed that he was unresponsive.

The infant was evaluated by medical staff, and it was determined that he was in critical condition and not breathing on his own. Upon further examination, injuries consistent with physical abuse were noted. As a result, the baby boy was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

The mother told investigators that she had left her son in the care of her close friend while she went to work.

Detectives learned that the child had been choked several times. The infant remains in critical condition.

The mother’s former boyfriend, identified as 28-year-old Jeremy David Millis, was arrested on one count of Attempted First Degree Murder and one count of Physical Child Abuse. He was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center. The investigation continues.
