AZ legislators to increase CPS funding

Arizona legislators will pass a bill this week providing $4.4 million in emergency funding for CPS this fiscal year to hire 50 new case workers. Senate President Andy Biggs announced the move today.

The conservative Biggs will easily win support for his effort to provide emergency funding to CPS. According to the Yellow Sheet, Biggs told his party-mates during caucus Tuesday morning that the republicans were going to get the bill passed this week.

The Yellow Sheet reports that the senate will “do a substitution with an identical House bill and vote it out on Thursday. The House version (H2502: supplemental appropriation; CPS funding) was filed today by Brophy McGee (R), while Biggs is sponsoring S1249, its counterpart in the Senate.
